Yin Yang in Feng Shui

feng-shui-fishes.jpgYin Yang in feng Shui is a symbol of all that exists in the world. Yin and Yang shows that the world can be divided on two parts: black and white, hot and cold, men and women. These parts can’t be together at one time and they can’t be separated, they are flowing from one to another. For example, hot tea will become cold in a while, but tea can’t be hot and cold at one time. All you see in the world can be shown as Yin and Yang symbol.

Yin and Yang has several names. One of them is: Liang yi – the term, that means “two mutually correlated opposites”.
The direct translation of the word Yang will mean “the sunny side of the mountain”, while the work Yin means opposite “the shadowy slope”. Heaven and earth – they are also called as Yin and Yang. Sometimes Yin and Yang symbol is called Tai-Chi. Tai Chi relates to Chinese philosophy, but I can explaine more about Tai Chi in the next articles.

How can we appreciate the light if we have never experienced darkness.

The round symbol with two dots in the middle is a division to Yin and Yang energy: white part represents Yang energy. Daytime, sunny place, brightness, activity, masculine these are features that represent Yang energy. Black part of the symbol is Yin. Night, shady place, passive, feminine are elements that show us Yin energy. More detailed division of Yin and Yang energies you can see in the chart below. You can give your personal examples, but you understand now the main idea of Yin and Yang.feng-shui-yin-yang-symbol.jpg

The dots inside the parts of Yin and Yang symbol mean that nothing is perfect in this world. Continual movement from Yin to Yang energy and vica versa shows that nothing is stable in our world. Hot becomes cold, light becomes darkness, strong energy can sometimes become weak. We have two opposites in ourselves: light and dark sides, there is no 100% positive or negative people. They all have a part that goes for opposite side of their character.

We should learn to balance our lives, because when we have balanced life, then our life will be full of happiness and joy and we can start living life freely and enjoy it for what it was meant to be.

Yin is symbolized by water and earth, and Yang is symbolized by fire and air. Now you can see what elements you have at home. They should be all balanced, so keep in mind that if your room is dark, you should add Yang energy to it with light or water and earth elements. Your house should have balanced Yin and Yang energy. If you have very dark house, it can lead to lacking of self-confidence, reticence and no light and prosperity in your life. On the contrast, if you have very bright house you can feel fear, and also the feeling of not protected in your life. Have your house balanced with light and dark places for rest. (Feng Shui Bagua elements should be balanced as well)

What is the most vivid example of using Yin and Yang symbol in the real life? I give you a hint: what country has the flag with Yin and Yang symbol on it? Right, it is South Korea. In Korean, the flag is called the Taegeukgi. It is almost impossible to pronounce, but I wish I hear this word from native speaker. The four trigrams represent the four Chinese philosophical ideas about the universe:chinese-flag-yin-yang.jpg harmony, symmetry, balance, circulation. The general design of the flag also derives from traditional use of the tricolor symbol (red, blue and yellow) by Koreans starting from the early era of Korean history. The white background symbolizes “cleanliness of the people.” The Taegeukgi represents the origin of all things in the universe; the negative aspect rendered in blue, and “Yang”, the positive aspect rendered in red, in perfect balance. Together, they represent a continuous movement within infinity, the two merging as one.

Yin room or house will become more alive if you add yang energy. Once, the woman came to feng shui consultant and askedfeng-shui-yin-yang-cars.jpg for help. She didn’t understand why all her boyfriends were not serious about her. The woman was already willing for marriage, but no luck in pesonal life. When consultant came to her, there was a vivid picture. The room had only Yin energy in it. Not even an object that gave an idea, that here can live a man. Feng shui consultant added several items, that are usually ordinary items in the men’s rooms. The result was more then we expected. She married in half a year and now she is happy more than ever.
