DIY projects can be extremely satisfying; knowing that you made something beautiful and useful for your home is a great feeling. However, we don’t always have the time or the funds to take on large scale DIY projects, so if you’re looking to be creative why not try out one of these quick and easy projects below…
If you’re looking for an easy way to add some quirkiness to your bedroom or want a unique focal point why not go for a funky dresser? You can start this project with any dresser you have, whether it’s an antique hand-me-down or trusty old Ikea piece.
You could paint each drawer a different colour and leave the frame white, or why not go for a single colour scheme to match your decor and mix up the patterns instead! Not handy with a paintbrush? Glue wallpaper on instead.
Creating a new and fun lamp shade is the easiest way to make a change in your home. Simply grab whatever lamp shade you want to upgrade and a fabric that you love. Then measure the fabric out and you can either sew it on or simply hot glue it in place. Add a contrasting ribbon to the top and bottom to add that extra edge!
I love this glitter lamp too – it looks unique but takes literally minutes to make.
A sweet idea for yours or your child’s bedroom would be to get some white fabric and a sharpie and write a loving message or a short story on the fabric before you create a new lamp shade out of it!
One of the most interesting DIY fridge projects I’ve seen lately is the chalkboard fridge. I love the idea of being able to write shopping lists or weekly menus on the fridge. This DIY is much easier than you might think as well; simply sand down the fridge door so the primer paint will go on easier, the prime and cover in special chalkboard paint. Simple as that!
Another really fun way to update your fridge is to get some removable wall paper to stick on; you’ll be sure to have a fridge that’s one of a kind and matches your decor!
These days we’re almost overrun by technology and some of us have more chargers than we know what to do with! But why do we leave them blank, boring and unoriginal? Why not add a little sparkle to your life and create a special charger with some nail polish?
What’s so great about this idea is that there are as many colours of nail polish to choose from as there are paint samples at the store. Just whip out a few bottles and get painting!
Indoor plant pots can be expensive if you want one that’s more than just basic, so why not create your own and you’ll save money and end up with a design that’s totally your own.
A beautiful take on painting ceramic pots is to actually hold the pot upside down and poor some paint on the bottom, then let it trickle down the sides a little so that when dried it looks like the paint actually flowed upwards!
