Every other year or so, Susan calls me to reposition all of the “knickknacks” (life artifacts and treasures in feng shui speak) to support her husband’s and her fresh goals, intentions and chosen lifestyle.
It all starts with intentions. Over coffee, we discuss the character of the life Susan and Bill would like to experience. In global terms this year they choose health and vitality, continued financial abundance, simplified travel, more fun and laughter everywhere – especially at home with friends and increased serenity, and life with song.
In preparation for our feng shui example, Susan has the carpets and house freshly cleaned and every moveable object d’art removed from its current placement and set willy nilly on the floors.
If you choose to do this process yourself, be prepared to live in chaos for at least two days. In Susan and Bill’s case, it takes five: three days preparation by Susan and her housekeeper, two days for us to fine tune.
Since serenity was high on the list, we decided to reduce the number of artifacts on display by about 30 percent. Once assured that we could add more items if that feeling persisted, she returned to trusting the process.

By the end of day two, we completed the transformation. By simply moving everything and placing each item with care to honor the objects themselves and what they represent to Susan and Bill, their home feels fresh, refreshed and vitalized. The results are worth it.
